Cavemen were Progressive-ists-a thought…

Dear friends, Progressivism, like Globalism is as much a part of humanity as the air we breathe or our obsessive need to ascribe a genus to Donald Trump’s hair. The moment our earliest ancestors climbed from those safe and familiar gorges in Ethiopia 2 million years ago, they set the mankind on a path to become the planet’s dominant species. Not content with found objects as ad hoc tools, they learned to craft tools and arrows. With time they transformed and improved their tools, imagining and striving for more. Socially, as the species journeyed and settled new environments and challenges, they progressed towards every evolving definitions of ethics, morality, gender roles, politics, economics, war and human rights.

Mankind has never been satisfied with the status quo, and has forever eschewed returning to bygone days, which is what makes the Tea Party so-called movement so dangerous. First, they repeatedly recall those delusion-ary good-old-days of the 1940’s and 50’s, which were good if you were wealthy, white and male. Second, they represent a masked selfishness and an abandonment of social connections. Their connection among one another is merely a means to and end, and not at all a way of strengthening the bounds among people. Progress-the root of Progressivism-and the betterment of everyone in society was always forged by moving forward not by retreating to the past.

The Constitution of this nation was not a spontaneous invention, a light from the heavens revealing a concept never considered before. It was a Progressive evolution from those ancestral beginnings seeking in which every living soul through history has sought meaning, purpose nd justice. The inspiration of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence echoes with Greek Democracy, Roman Republicanism, th Enlightenment and Reformation, Protestantism, the French Revolution, the Magna Carta, Slavery, Women’s Rights, the Labor Movement and the assertion of indigenous people’s rights globally through history. It is fundamental to the human soul, as the complacency of the past or present represents the abandonment of justice and freedom yet to be won. That is the essence of Progressivism.

Just a thought…
